The UN Security Council will hold a ministerial meeting about Ukraine on 24 February, to mark the one year anniversary of the conflict with Russia, but there are no plans to vote on a resolution, informed the President of the Council for the month of February. UNIFEED

Addressing the Security Council, the Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, said, “it is crucial that all parties take immediate steps to lower tensions and reverse negative trends that undermine prospects for a peaceful two-State resolution of the conflict, with a contiguous, independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian State.” UNIFEED

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he is “encouraged” by recent engagement between senior Israeli and Palestinian officials and urged both sides to “expand these contacts to encompass underlying political issues.” UNIFEED
