The UN headquarters in New York hosted “Breaking out of the bubble. The Halftime Show”, a special event with musical guests and speakers to inspire audiences to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Halftime Show kicked off today (18 Sep) a week of programming at the SDG Pavilion during UNGA78.
The Halftime Show provided a platform for the UN to set a path forward to achieve the Goals and encourage decisive and transformative action.
The event was co-hosted by UN Secretary-General's SDG Advocate Co-Chair Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
Produced by UN Secretary-General SDG Advocate Richard Curtis, with key contributions from the worlds of entertainment, music and sports to world leaders and activists, The Halftime Show was designed to inspire SDG action and encourage new audiences to join the winning team.
One of the participants, the actor and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Orlando Bloom, said, “We could face a generational catastrophe if we don't intensify our efforts to the end and learn about leaving this crisis behind us. Let's go into the second half of the 2023 Agenda with renewed energy, collaboration, determination. And let us never forget that children's rights, children's dreams, and children's futures are at the very heart of the Sustainable Development Goals.
