“There's intense, you know, discussions underway. And I'm really hoping, and not just hoping, I'm determined, to make it happen, I mean the adoption [of the] resolution to take place. Otherwise it is a matter of life or death for so many people. So apart from any political divergences, this is something we need to move ahead.”

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Ishikane Kimihiro, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Japan:
“The Security Council has been not really successful in speaking in one voice on the DPRK files. But I think, you know, things are not really going well. Things, I have to say, are deteriorating, so many missiles launched, [that] we have witnessed. So, having joined the Security Council, I tried to convey the voice of Japan or Japanese, who are facing this threatening danger coming from our neighbor and tried to make best efforts to come up with a unified Security Council. That's, you know, one of the things I will be pursuing during this Security Council.”
