Secretary-General António Guterres today (15 December) witnessed the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the government of the Republic of Honduras and the United Nations Secretariat to initiate work on the establishment of an international, impartial, independent and autonomous mechanism against corruption and impunity in Honduras.
Guterres and Honduras’ President Iris Xiomara Castro stood by while Foreign Minister Enrique Reina and Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca signed the MOU.
The agreement paves the way for the creation of an international anti-corruption commission.
