Ecuador’s Minister of Finance Pablo Arosemena visited IMF Headquarters on Wednesday (15 Dec). He met with the Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, to celebrate Ecuador’s completion of the Extended Fund Facility-supported program – the first completion in two decades.
The program has helped Ecuador mitigate the socioeconomic effects of the pandemic and other external shocks, maintain macroeconomic stability.
“I'm pleased to share very good news for Ecuador. Today, our Executive Board approved the final review of Ecuador's fund supported program. The first completion of an IMF program in two decades and a remarkable achievement at a particularly challenging time. It helps build the foundation of a more resilient economy and further protecting the most vulnerable people.
