United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths on Tuesday (13 Dec) visited Kherson, Ukraine.
He met with Yaroslav Yanushevych, Governor of Kherson and talked to residents.
UN’s top emergency relief official said, “we're very proud to be here to help these people”.
He continued, “we're proud to be part of a process of rebirth for Ukraine.”
Griffiths visited so called “Resilience centre”. He explained, “I'm inside what they call a resilience center. Outside is raining. It's freezing. And it's dangerous. Inside, thanks to the efforts of the Government and thanks to the efforts of so many who've given so much support to the people of Kherson, we're beginning to see lives starting again.”
He underlined the importance of the Resilience centers, “here we have a place for children to be safe. Here we have a place for old people to come, for some warmth, for reconnecting with the people in their neighborhoods.”
