The Permanent Representative to the UN from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea told the General Assembly that “the security environment of the Korean Peninsula is now caught in a vicious cycle of hatred and confrontation due to the growing hostility of the United States and its following forces against the DPRK.”
Addressing Member States on Monday (26 Sep), Song Kim said that “recently, it is a heading into much more dangerous space.”
According to the ambassador, “one of the excuses of the United States and it its vital forces to justify their hostile policy and military threats against the DPRK” is their “position for self-defense with nuclear weapons.”
Kim noted that, just a few days ago, his delegation heard the United States’ President, Joe Biden, saying that his country has made “efforts to begin serious and sustained diplomacy”, but DPRK “continues to blatantly violate sanctions.”
“To put it clearly, we have never recognized such resolutions of the United Nations that imposed pressure, because we do not abide by the rules made by the United States naturally. We will not accept them in the future, too,” said the diplomat.
