"Iran’s nuclear program has hit a watershed moment; and so has our tolerance. Words do not stop centrifuges from spinning. There are those in the world who seem to view Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons as an inevitable reality, as a done deal, or they've just become tired of hearing about it. Israel doesn't have that privilege. We cannot tire. We will not tire. Israel will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.”

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Naftali Bennett, Prime Minister, Israel:
"Israel is on course to escape the fourth wave without a lockdown, without further harm to our economy. Israel's economy is growing, and unemployment is down. I'm glad that our actions have inspired other countries to follow with the booster.”

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Naftali Bennett, Prime Minister, Israel:
"I want to thank the 38 countries - 38 - who chose truth over lies and skipped the conference. And to those countries who chose to participate in this farce, well, I can only say: Attacking Israel doesn’t make you morally superior, fighting the only democracy in the Middle East doesn’t make you "Woke", adopting clichés about Israel without bothering to learn the basic facts, well, that's just plain lazy.”

STORYLINE
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett today (27 Sep) told the General Assembly’s General Debate that Iran’s nuclear program “has hit a watershed moment, and so has our tolerance,” adding that “words do not stop centrifuges from spinning.”
Bennett said, “there are those in the world who seem to view Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons as an inevitable reality, as a done deal, or they've just become tired of hearing about it. Israel doesn't have that privilege. We cannot tire. We will not tire. Israel will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.”
On Israel’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of booster shots, the Israeli Prime Minister said, "Israel is on course to escape the fourth wave without a lockdown, without further harm to our economy. Israel's economy is growing, and unemployment is down. I'm glad that our actions have inspired other countries to follow with the booster.”
Bennet thanked the 38 countries which, he said, “chose truth over lies,” and skipped United Nations World Conference Against Racism – known as the Durban conference.
To those countries “who chose to participate in this farce”, he said, “attacking Israel doesn’t make you morally superior, fighting the only democracy in the Middle East doesn’t make you "Woke", adopting clichés about Israel without bothering to learn the basic facts, well, that's just plain lazy.”
The United States, Britain, Canada, France, Australia and other countries boycotted the Durban IV High-Level Meeting, convened to mark the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.
Bennett earlier met with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and updated the Secretary-General on the situation in Israel. They exchanged views on regional developments, including the Middle East Peace Process.
