STORYLINE
Former President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe died on Friday in Singapore, at the age of 95.
Speaking to reporters today (06 Sep), UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that the Secretary-General António Guterres will be sending a letter to the Government of Zimbabwe, noting that President Mugabe’s role in securing the independence of Zimbabwe and the fight against the Apartheid were key parts of his legacy.
Dujarric also said that Guterres offered his condolences to the Government and the people of Zimbabwe as well as the family and loved ones of the late President.
