STORYLINE
Severe weather has affected refugee settlements across Lebanon, forcing many families to live in freezing, damp conditions. As temperatures drop, residents are struggling to remove snow and repair the devastating damage to their tents and health.

Storm Miriam hit Lebanon on 16 January, less than one week after Storm Norma. Refugees in Arsal, northeast Lebanon, close to the border of Syria, were still clearing snow from the first storm when the second hit.

Dalhamiyeh informal Settlement in Bekaa valley was particularly hard hit by rains and flooding. Many of the tents were already partially flooded as refugees struggled to keep the water out or drain what had gotten in.

Two hundred people and 47 tents were affected by the snow that hit the village of Duris. Residents have been working day and night to remove the water and the snow from around their tents.
