Asked about the situation in Venezuela, the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters today that “we will continue to make very very clear that this is a failure of leadership by the Maduro government, and by Nicolás Maduro personally,” adding that “the suffering of the Venezuelans must cease.”

Attending the 73rd Session of the General Assembly in New York today (26 Sep), the Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau briefed reporters on efforts made by his country in climate change, peace and security, combatting rising inequality and more.

He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to creating a peaceful and prosper world not just today, but also for the future.

Also on Venezuela, Trudeau said “Canada stands with our friends and allies in South America, across Latin America. We will continue to be there to support, to provide our participation in broad range of initiatives.”

He reiterated the suffering of the Venezuelans “must cease” and his country is working on to “try and reach in a consensual way with our friends in South America.”
