STORYLINE
Newly appointed United Nations (UN) goodwill ambassador for human trafficking, Nadia Murad Basee Taha, told world leaders that, “you decide whether there will be war or peace. You decide to give hope or create suffering. You are the ones to decide whether another girl, just like me, in a different part of the world will be able to go on with her simple life or be forced, like I was, to experience suffering, bondage, and rape.”

Speaking today (19 Sep) at the summit for refugees and migrants in New York. she urged the international community to put an end to wars and put humanity first, “we must bring to justice all those perpetrators of genocide crimes and crimes against humanity.”

Murad said that terrorist and extremist organizations such as ISIL and Boko Haram "are the main reason behind the displacement of millions” and that “we must eliminate all those monsters now; yes, now.”

Calling on countries to open boarders to refugees and migrants, Murad said “the world only has one boarder, it is called humanity”, adding that “until security is established in conflict areas, we should not close our doors in the face of innocent women and children, those who suffered calamities. We must stand with persecuted people.”

She called on world leaders to take immediate action on the refugees migrant crisis, saying, “if beheadings, sexual enslavement and child rape and the displacement of millions do not force you to move, when will you move? Life was not created solely for you and your families. We also want life and deserve to live it.”
