STORYLINE
An impassioned speech was delivered today (11 Mar) by US Secretary of State Elizabeth MacCord at the General Assembly (GA).

She is not a new appointee, she is the central character in the CBS political drama, “Madam Secretary, ”filming at UN headquarters.

Actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Tea Leoni, who plays the lead role, said she had
hoped that her time at the GA podium could have been a bit more “rebel rousing” and that she could have made a difference.

Her family has long been involved with UNICEF. Her grandfather is the founder of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

Leoni said that doing the show has been an education for her, adding that, “Madelene Albright said that she liked the show because it was making foreign policy less foreign.”

It was actor Tim Daly’s time at the UN , which he said, “was awesome.”
