Civil-Military Activities with MINUSCA Peacekeepers
Zambia is one of the major troop contributors to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), with a battalion of 930 military personnel, including 59 women. The Zambian battalion has been deployed since 2015 in the Vakaga prefecture (in the northeast part of Central African Republic) to ensure the protection of civilians. The peacekeepers provide security in the surrounding area of Birao by conducting daily patrols. In addition, it regularly organizes civil-military activities (CIMIC) with the aim of strengthening social cohesion.
