International Court of Justice Hears Judgment on Iran v. United States of America
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the UN, delivers its judgment on the preliminary objections raised by the United States of America in the case concerning Certain Iranian Assets (Islamic Republic of Iran v. United States of America) at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. Sitting held under the presidency of Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf on 13 February 2019 at 3 p.m. The Court’s role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States (its Judgments are final and binding) and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized UN organs and agencies.
