A new UNEP report says that the world avoided a major problem by getting rid of ozone depleting substances by the Montreal Protocol, but Executive Director Achim Steiner said, “what was not foreseen” is that if the use of the substance that replaced them, Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), continues to increase, there could be “a major negative issue and challenge in terms of global warming.” UNIFEED-UNTV
