The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is delivering 150 tonnes, out of a total of 1,500 tonnes, of animal fodder to 2,450 livestock-keeping households in the Gaza Strip to safeguard surviving animals and support local production of fresh nutritious food like milk, dairy, eggs and meat amidst an imminent risk of famine. The latest analysis from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification partnership warned that the situation in Gaza is catastrophic, with northern Gaza facing imminent famine and the rest of the Strip at risk as well. WHO

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Solutions to Internal Displacement, Robert Piper visited Mozambique and called for a renewed international commitment to finding solutions for the displaced. UNHCR

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) supports six women-led cooperatives in the earthquake-hit region as part of a three-year Earthquake response and recovery plan (ERRP), though FAO’s support for women’s economic activities in the country spans beyond earthquake-stricken areas. FAO

Recent access by the World Health Organization (WHO) and partners to hospitals in northern Gaza has starkly revealed severe levels of malnutrition for Palestinians, children dying of starvation, serious shortages of fuel, food and medical supplies, and hospital buildings destroyed. UNTV CH

Jens Laerke, for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) told reporters in Geneva that in the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville), the United Nations was responding to a flood disaster, “unprecedented in scale for six decades,” and with hundreds of thousands of people in need of humanitarian assistance.
