Referring to the conflict in Ukraine, a UN political affairs official warned the Security Council that, like in any other armed conflict, the supply of weapons and ammunition “raises significant concerns about the potential escalation of violence and the risks of diversion.” UNIFEED

Threats to international peace and security.

The UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region Huang Xia said that the humanitarian and security situation in the region has not improved and the risk of a direct confrontation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda remains very real. UNIFEED

A top UN official of the Office for Disarmament Affairs said that the impact on civilians of the intensifying war in Ukraine “continues to be an area of serious concern”. UNIFEED
