A two-day workshop on judicial reforms supported by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) brought together members of South Sudan’s judiciary and legal fraternity in Juba. A critical element of the governance reforms stipulated in the Revitalized Agreement of 2018 is drafting a permanent constitution that would pave the way for elections in the world’s youngest nation. Presenting his report on children and armed conflict, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on the Security Council and all countries to “strongly support the protection of children in all ways at all times,” and stressed that there is “no place for children in conflict, and we must not allow conflict to trample on the rights of children.” UNIFEED

At the 47th session of the Human Rights Council, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, expressed concern about an “accelerated deterioration in the human rights situation” in Nicaragua and said, “this makes it less possible for Nicaraguans to fully exercise their political rights in the 7 November elections."
