Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “is going throughout the world asking for money, asking for attention, asking for weapons, asking for other things,” and added that his proposals for ending the conflict are “completely not feasible.” UNIFEED

Secretary-General António Guterres told the Security Council that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “is aggravating geopolitical tensions and divisions, threatening regional stability, increasing the nuclear threat, and creating deep fissures in our increasingly multipolar world.” UNIFEED

Ahead of the Security Council meeting on Ukraine, Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, said, “An unprovoked and unjustified war of choice has brought a deadly and enduring conflict in the heart of Europe. Nothing good has come out of it.” UNIFEED

On the sidelines of the SDG Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Ukraine will never give up its role as a guarantor of global food security.” UNIFEED

In his address to the General Assembly’s General Debate, the President of Türkiye Recep Erdoğan said his country has been “endeavouring to keep both our Russian and Ukrainian friends around the table with a thesis that war will have no winners and peace will have no losers.” UNIFEED

Ahead of next week’s High-level session of the General Assembly, the United States’ Permanent Representative, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that “when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it struck at the heart of the UN Charter” and her country “will continue to pursue a just and durable peace in line with the UN Charter core principles” and “continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.” UNIFEED

Ahead of next week’s High Level meeting at the General Assembly, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, said today that Member States “will be gathering at a time when humanity faces huge challenges” and that “people are looking to their leaders for a way out of this mess.” UNIFEED

The High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu, told the Security Council that “any potential or suspected violations of relevant Security Council resolutions” in supplying weapons to parties in the war in Ukraine, “if verified, are very concerning.” UNIFEED
