Honduran Poor Tackle Water Problems With Help Of Unicef

01-Jul-1996 00:03:15
Until recently, the urban poor of Tegucigualpa, Honduras, lacked safe water. They often had to pay high fees to private vendors for substandard water. Now community groups aided by UNICEF at the National Water and Sewage Authority, SANAA, are laying pipes to improve water distribution and the quality of urban life. Providing public services like this was an important topic at the HABITAT II Conference in Istanbul this year.
