Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon met this afternoon (22 April) with Lakhdar Brahimi, Joint Special Representative of the United Nations and the League of Arab States for Syria, and Nabil Elaraby, Secretary-General of the Arab League, to discuss the situation in Syria.

Earlier, Ban met with Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bim Jabr Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. Elaraby was also present at this morning meeting, according to a readout released by the spokesperson’s office of the Secretary-General. The discussion of the morning meeting involved Syria as well, and its “ever-deteriorating situation.”
