DATELINE: 26 NOVEMBER 2023, EUROPEAN GAZA HOSPITAL, GAZA

SHOTLIST:

1. Various shots, European Gaza Hospital exterior with ambulances
2. Various shots, patients in busy corridors and wards
3. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Adnan Hussein Ashour, nursing supervisor at Gaza European Hospital:
“By God, the hospital’s capacity is approximately two hundred and forty beds on normal days, but during the war period, this means that the hospital’s number of patients has almost tripled, and the number has reached about 850 beds, with cases being received from Al-Shifa Hospital, cases from the Indonesian Hospital, and cases from Al-Awda and al-Ma’madani Hospital today. This means that the situation is very, very tragic, and the hospital cannot bear this burden of cases, and there is no capacity. This means that the equipment is insufficient, tools and consumables are lacking, and there is a shortage of medical and nursing staff.”
4. Various shots, new mattress and bed frame being assembled
5. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Adnan Hussein Ashour, nursing supervisor at Gaza European Hospital:
“There is no possibility that we can absorb this quantity of cases. Cases today, I have in the hospital eight hundred and fifty patients with injuries, meaning almost ninety percent of them are war injuries, all of which are of various forms and with extreme difficulties, amputations of hands, amputations of hands, amputations of legs, brain injuries, head injuries, and the cases of care are almost full. I mean, I can tell you that I have nothing else. There are no beds in intensive care case, if the patient requires intensive care.”
6. Various shots, patients being moved around busy wards
