Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the principles of international law, stressing Iraq’s “determination to establish the best of ties with everyone,” especially with its neighbors.

The Iraqi Prime Minister today (22 Sep) addressed the General Assembly’s annual general debate.

He said, “We reject any interference in our internal affairs regardless of the excuse. And our constitution stipulates that Iraq will not be a launching point for any aggression towards other States.”

Similarly, Prime Minister Sudani continued, “we ask everyone to respect Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We reserve our right to take the necessary measures as established by international laws and conventions to repel any violation of our country.”

He also asked the international community to help Iraq to “combat corruption in all its stages.”

Prime Minister Sudani said, “We must all work together and cooperate and combat corruption. We must return the money that they have stolen, because we believe that there's a symbiotic relationship between corruption and terrorism and this is what we all wanted to fight.”
