4. Med shot, delegates in the audience
5.SOUNDBITE (French) António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General:
“The Summit of the Future is a unique opportunity to help rebuild trust and bring outdated multilateral institutions and frameworks into line with today’s world, based on equity and solidarity. But it is more than an opportunity. It is an essential means of reducing risks and creating a safer and more peaceful world.”
6. Wide shot, Trusteeship Council
7. SOUNDBITE (English) António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General:
“The Pact for the Future will be your contract with each other and with your people. It will represent your pledge to use all the tools at your disposal at the global level to solve problems – before those problems overwhelm us. The challenges we face are universal. They require universal solutions and cannot be solved through small groupings of states or coalitions of the willing. The United Nations is the only forum where this can happen.”
8. Med shot, delegates in the audience
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Varaidzo Kativhu, activist, Young Leader of the SDG's:
“As we meet at the halfway mark, the 2030 Agenda is in deep crisis. We see the climate crisis wreaking havoc in the lives of many. We see tens of millions in poverty and inequality is getting worse, especially for girls and women as they continue to be excluded from education and employment. To put it bluntly, this is unacceptable. But the good thing is there are ways to get back on track. As leaders in this room, this is your chance to show us that you can deliver on the promises that you made in that 2030 Agenda.”
10. Wide shot, Trusteeship Council
