In his speech at the General Debate today (20 Sep), President Yoon reiterated that the nuclear and missile programs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is “not only a direct existential threat to the peace of the Republic of Korea, but also is a serious challenge to the peace in the Indo Pacific region and across the globe.”
He said that if the DPRK acquires the information and technology necessary to enhance its weapon of mass destruction (WMD) capabilities in exchange for supporting Russia with conventional weapons, “the deal will be a direct provocation, threatening the peace and security of not only Ukraine, but also the Republic of Korea.”
“The Republic of Korea, together with its allies and partners will not stand idly by,” President Yoon reiterated.
The South Korean President also highlighted that the digital divide is a major cause of economic divide.
