SHOTLIST:
1. Wide shot, UN exteriors
2. Wide shot, meeting room
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Rosemary DiCarlo, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs:
“Over 5000 women, men and children killed, and millions displaced. Sudan is now home to the highest number of internally displaced people in the world with at least 7.1 people, including an estimated 3.3 million children uprooted from their homes.”
4. Med shot, meeting room
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Rosemary DiCarlo, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs:
“Civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, places of worship, water and electricity installations have been targeted, damaged and destroyed. There have been shocking accounts of widespread rape and sexual violence, there must be accountability for these crimes, as well as medical and psychosocial support for survivors.”
6. Med shot, meeting room
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (OCHA):
“Since the conflict began, we have reached 3.5 million people. But this amounts to only 19 percent of the 18 million people we are targeting for humanitarian assistance or protection. Our ability to operate is hampered by the highly dangerous and complex operating environment, perhaps the most so the world today, as well as access restrictions and bureaucratic impediments. We were able to restore access from Port Sudan to Darfur through intensive negotiations and I thank those involved in providing those approvals.”
8. Med shot, meeting room
9. SOUDNBITE (English) Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR):
“Our colleagues working inside Sudan are reporting that these 4 million freshly displaced people are increasingly congregating around distribution points where WFP and other organizations are distributing food, for example, because that is the only place they can get support. And as our own operations move across frontline, basically, trying to navigate the incredible challenges and security, the people move with them.”
