On the sidelines of the SDG Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Ukraine will never give up its role as a guarantor of global food security.”
President Zelenskyy spoke today (19 Sep) at a leaders dialogue “Unity and Solidarity: Strengthening the multilateral system for enhanced support, cooperation, follow-up and review”.
He said, “Nobody expected from us that we could press the Russian fleet out of our black sea waters, provide a more roof for the Black Sea grain initiative as well as humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine.”
President Zelenskyy continued, “Ukraine proposes a very, a very clear action to prevent any turmoil on the global food market. The Vice President reiterated, “China will continue working with all sides to make positive contributions to achieving the SDGs on time and building a global community of development.”

Blinken, US Secretary of State told delegates,“To get back on track, we need to redouble our collective efforts to address debt, mobilize more financing, unblock inclusive growth, and to support the foundations of thriving societies, health, food security, education, gender equality, good governance, respect for human rights and the rule of law.”
He underscored, “The United States will continue to do its part in close partnership with countries from around the world.”
This Dialogue aims to contribute to strengthening unity and multilateralism, particularly through international cooperation and trust-building, including as it relates to follow-up to the Secretary-General’s report on Our Common Agenda. It will consider avenues and opportunities to augment the follow-up and review of SDG progress. Member States can also guidance to facilitate the continued strengthening of the United Nations Development System to support the transformative changes envisioned in the 2030 Agenda.
