STORYLINE:
A United Nations interagency mission visited Idlib Governorate, Syria, to assess needs and distribute aid.

The UN humanitarian delegation visited a displacement camp and a reception centre.

Medical supplies were distributed to three hospitals, and the team also met with civil society representatives.

The visit included representatives from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Department for Safety and Security (UNDSS), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

The UN representatives visited Harim General Hospital (supported by the NGO Social Development International).

A nurse recounted the experience at the Harim General Hospital in the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck Türkiye on 20 February:“After the earthquakes, we started receiving injured people. Some fell outside the buildings as they were very afraid. Some jumped from the balconies. Many injuries were bone fractures and bruises.”

The UN visit continued to an earthquake-affected site in Bsaniah from Harim to Salqin, then to the Salqin Hospital (supported by the NGO Syrian American Medical Society – SAMS) and an affected Primary Health Center.

The UN humanitarian agencies also visited a displacement camp and a maternity hospital (supported by Shafak Organization) in Ma’arrat Misrin.

A midwife recounted her experience at the maternity hospital in the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck Türkiye on 20 February: “We have newborn baby incubators and a department specifically for babies.
