STORYLINE:
According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), at least 8 million people across Syria have been impacted by the earthquake, including an estimated 133,000 pregnant women.
Some 44,000 women are expected to give birth in the next three months - childbirth could be life-threatening if not fatal for the approximate 6,600 who will experience pregnancy and birth-related complications.
They urgently need access to skilled medical care.
In response, UNFPA and its partners are stepping up their efforts to ensure that the provision of life-saving sexual and reproductive health services continues in both government and non-government-controlled areas of Aleppo and Idlib governorates.
Mobile health teams are taking reproductive health services to women and girls in need, including maternal health and protection services and psychosocial support.
Trucks carrying essential reproductive health supplies, including kits for safe births, medicines, and hygiene items, are being distributed to affected areas.
Supplies have also been transported across the border into northwest Syria, where nine primary healthcare facilities and 12 safe spaces continue to ensure that services that are vital to the health, well-being, and lives of women and girls are delivered.
