STORYLINE:
Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix joined a patrol of the Blue Line with Ghanaian peacekeepers and Lebanese Armed Forces soldiers.
He also visited Camp Shamrock, the headquarters of UNIFIL’s Irish contingent, where he expressed his condolences for the tragic death of Private Seán Rooney who was killed on 14 December in Al-Aqbieh and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
With about 10,000 military peacekeepers from 48 countries and over 800 civilian staff, UNIFIL works to maintain peace and security along the Blue Line in south Lebanon.
