Speaking to reporters today (12 Jan) in New York, Hayashi Yoshimasa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, said “The Security Council needs to be enlarged in both the permanent and non-permanent seats. And this is especially true for Africa.”
He also noted, “We need to reform not because of ambitions of specific countries, but because of the greater good for the United Nations.”
Answering questions to reporters, Yoshimasa said, “Japan will not tolerate any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force.”
He also mentioned, “We will continue to work with international community to ask Russia to immediately cease its aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine territory.”
