“To travel, we traveled by road, moving from one Governorate to the other and we saw the level of destruction as a result of the conflict. This is a reason why the number of people left from their places of origin, but we also saw people who had come back to their places of origin and other people who are willing to go back to their places of origin if they are getting support and assistance.”

STORYLINE:
The UN Refugee Agency calls to mobilize humanitarian assistance to displaced families and host communities across Yemen.

The Assistant High Commissioner, Raouf Mazou, and the MENA regional Director, Ayman Gharaibeh, visited several Governorates in Yemen (Aden, Hudaydah, Ibb, and Sanaa) to have a closer look at the suffering of displaced people and the assistance UNHCR can bring to them.

Over seven years of armed conflict in Yemen has caused tens of thousands of civilian casualties and displaced over 4.3 million people, making Yemen one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises and aid operations.
