This morning, the President of the General Assembly Abdulla Shahid, spoke at the launch of the “State of Food Security and the World 2022” Report, organized by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO. He noted the strains on global food security caused by the COVID pandemic, climate change, environmental degradation, economic stagnation, and the conflict in Ukraine.
President Shahid has launched an initiative to capture the hopes of children in a so-called time capsule. The idea is that each Member State can send two videos of less than 30 seconds from children between the ages of 8 and 15, speaking in their native language. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, 26 July.
The election for the members of the Economic and Social Council will resume on Monday, 11 July, at 3PM in the General Assembly Hall.
The UNGA 77 speakers list will be published mid-July, per usual.
