Description
An engineer from Panama visits Las Gaviotas, a remarkable research centre for appropriate technology in the eastern plains of Colombia. A student nurse from Tchad studies at a unique medical centre in Cameroon. A
coconut farmer from the Philippines visits an experimental coconut farm in Indonesia. These examples illustrate a new emphasis in development planning. While not rejecting Northern aid and technology, southerners are trying to find southern solutions to southern problems. The movement has acquired a name, technical cooperation among developing countries, the inevitable acronym TCDC, and a slogan 'Bridges Across the South’.
