The members of the Security Council reiterated the importance of ensuring the full and effective implementation of and compliance with the Status of Forces Agreement. The statement, read by Estonian Ambassador Gert Auväärt, called on all parties “to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access.”
The members of thew Security Council, he said, “reiterated the importance of ensuring the full and effective implementation of and compliance with the Status of Forces Agreement.”
The statement noted that “attacks against United Nations peacekeepers may constitute war crimes.”
Estonia holds the presidency of the Council for the month of June.
