Eight days after the presidential and legislative elections in the Central African Republic, the National Electoral Authority on Wednesday (4 Jan) officially published the provisional results of the presidential election held December 27, 2020.

“Article one, the provisional results of the presidential election of December 27, 2020, are published as follows: First, Faustin Archange Touadera, 346,687 votes or 53.92 percent, second Anicet Georges Dologuele, 135,081 or 31.01 percent, third, Ziguele Martin 47,948 or 7.46 percent, fourth, Nzanga Bilal Kolingba Désiré, 24,481 votes or 3.79 percent, fifth, Mboli-Goumba Gbendere Crépin, 20,298 votes or 3.16 percent."

The incumbent president Faustin Archange Touadera, having received the absolute majority of validly cast votes in the first round of the presidential election of December 27, 2020 with 346,687 votes or 53.92 percent is declared elected. The final results will be announced in 15 days, after the processing of the disputes by the Constitutional Court.

In a joint statement issued on January 4, the AU, ECCAS, the UN and the EU took note of "the provisional results of the first round of the presidential elections proclaimed by the NSA and reiterate their call to all political actors to resolve any electoral disputes peacefully and in accordance with the laws and the Constitution of the CAR. These organizations also call on the government and the entire political class to prioritize an inclusive, open, constructive and credible political dialogue to promote national stability.
