Mandela speaks on reasons for his visit to the United States, and states that he wants the United States to open its markets to South Africa, which benefits both countries, but is not asking for charity. He emphasizes that building South Africa needs international support, and former enemies are allies now. Regarding to the question about South Africa’s peacebuilding efforts, Mr. Mandela indicates that they will make contributions as part of the United Nations organizations, members of Organization of African Unity (OAU), the Commonwealth and the Non-Aligned Movement, instead of conducting isolated movements.
