Description
Women, Peace and Security

Women and girls have in recent times become prime targets of armed conflict. How can the world community better focus on the problems faced by women in war – while at the same time increase their participation, and the recognition they receive, in building peace? Should women play a greater role in UN peacekeeping missions? How can women become more involved in peace negotiations, and in the economic redevelopment of their societies after conflict? In this edition of World Chronicle, these issues are discussed with UN’s Director of the Division for the Advancement of Women, Carolyn Hannan.
