On the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice, the ILO held a panel discussion on the modern forms of forced labour, human trafficking, the vulnerability of workers to exploitation and the impact on national and global social and economic development. (A/RES/62/10)
Co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Germany, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines and the United States Mission
Over the past few years we have seen a significant intensification of global action against the forms of coercion variously referred to as slavery, forced labour, institutions and practices similar to slavery and human trafficking. This background note was prepared for an Expert Panel Discussion at the UN on the occasion of the World Day for Social Justice.
