Joint meeting of the Second Committee and the ECOSOC (26th meeting): “Investing in productive capacities for job-rich growth”.
The joint meeting will be co-chaired by the Chair of the Second Committee, H.E. Mr. Abulkalam Abdul Momen (Bangladesh), and the President of the Economic and Social Council, H.E. Mr. Lazarous Kapambwe (Zambia). The panellists will include Ms. Michelle Bachelet, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women); Mr. Juan Somavía, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO); and Mr. Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
During the meeting, there will be a launch of the report of the Social Protection Floor Advisory Group, entitled “Social protection floor for a fair and inclusive globalization”.
