
Professor Joseph Stiglitz, The global economic situation and sovereign debt crisis
Presentation by Professor Joseph Stiglitz.
The Second Committee and the Economic and Social Council holded a joint meeting (19th meeting) to hear a presentation on “The global economic situation and sovereign debt crisis”.
The joint meeting was co-chaired by the Chair of the Second Committee, H.E. Mr. Abulkalam Abdul Momen (Bangladesh), and the President of the Economic and Social Council, H.E. Mr. Lazarous Kapambwe (Zambia).
Professor Joseph Stiglitz, Professor of International Affairs, Columbia University, and recipient of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics, made a presentation, followed by an interactive dialogue moderated by the Director of the Development Policy Analysis Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Mr. Rob Vos.
The joint meeting was organized by the Development Policy Analysis Division (DPAD) and the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination (OESC), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), in cooperation with Project LINK –– Expert Group Meeting of DESA on the World Economy.
