UN Day Concert 2010
Traditionally, UN Day is marked by an international concert in the General Assembly Hall.
In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Organization, the concert this year is sponsored by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, and is being dedicated to the Millennium Development Goals.
The concert will feature the Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra, led by chief conductor Shinik Hahm, in a rich repertoire of classical music, including selections from Candide, William Tell and Rainbow Body, a special performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op.125 ("Ode to Joy") with the Westminster Choir College of Rider University, as well as a unique medley of traditional Korean folk music.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the President of the 65th Session of the General Assembly, Mr. Joseph Deiss, and His Excellency Park In-kook, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, will deliver opening remarks.
The video includes the opening speeches and a five minute excerpt of the performance.
