“We have been actually in touch with Dr. Rajendra Pachauri and what he has told us is that so far any information that has appeared, that may have been unfortunate developments, but nothing changes the science. And that’s very important that the science is there, and there is the majority of the scientific opinion and scientific academies worldwide -  nothing has changed.”

“The Kyoto Protocol at that time was meant to change the emissions pattern of the developed countries parties and it has done that, it was not at that time meant to address the global emissions of all 192 members of the United Nations. So the fact of the matter is that as a whole, the Kyoto parties have more or less met their targets and more or less their emissions are stable.”

STORYLINE:

The director of the United Nations (UN) secretary-general's climate change support team said today that, “nothing changes the science,” referring to the claims that scientists may have withheld data about global warming.

Briefing the press at UN headquarters, Janos Pasztor spoke about the media reports that thousands of hacked emails and documents from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) raised fundamental questions about the science behind global warming theory.
Quoting the head of the IPCC Rajendra Pachauri, he said that any information that had appeared so far was, “unfortunate, but nothing changed the science.”

Asked about the criticism from organizations and countries who said that the Kyoto Protocol didn’t work, Pasztor said that at that time the Kyoto Protocol was meant to change the emissions pattern of developed countries parties and that it had done that. 
He added that the parties had more or less met their targets and   emissions were stable.
