STORYLINE:

These two Samoan nurses are making their way to vaccinate children that need it the most.

To prevent an increase of communicable diseases in this community recently hit by disaster, UNICEF and the World Health Organization are giving full support to the Samoan government to start an immunization campaign.

In Apia, the capital city of Samoa, health professionals gathered for a last refresher training. A briefing on measles and the importance of vitamins took place to get the staff up to speed.

The aftermath of a disaster can leave irreversible damages in a community. UNICEF recognizes that tackling children’s health issues effectively and quickly before outbreaks take their toll is key to preventing needless deaths.
