The Security Council today (7 March) unanimously approved a new resolution condemning "in the strongest terms" the 12 February nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and imposing new sanctions. UNTV
Reiterating its condemnation of a December 2012 missile launch by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United Nations Security Council today (22 January) more sharply targeted sanctions on that country, while again demanding an end to its nuclear and ballistic tests. UNTV

In its latest assessment of the South Korean economy, the International Monetary Fund says that the Korean financial system has become less vulnerable since 2008 due to the concerted efforts of the authorities. External buffers have been strengthened, with higher foreign reserves and bilateral swap lines, while short-term debt has been reduced. IMF

Addressing the GA, India’s Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna says that Pakistan needs to “live up to its commitment” not to allow use of its soil by terrorists acting against India, adding this would “significantly help reduce” the trust deficit that “impedes the development of better bilateral relations between our two countries.” UNTV
