(23 July 2008) - The Security Council decided this morning to extend the operation of United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) for six months to complete its monitoring and management of arms and armed personnel, in line with the 25 June agreement among the country's political parties. Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Nepal, Ian Martin told the press that the intention is that this mandate "should be the last" hoping that the remaining issues will be resolved within this period.
