Viet Nam is one of around 80 countries that have received assistance from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cancer control. After cardiovascular diseases, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the country. According to the latest statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), there are around 125,000 new cancer cases and 94,000 deaths each year in Viet Nam.
