Talks have resumed in Geneva, between Iran and the permanent five members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, on Iran’s disputed nuclear programme, chaired by EU foreign policy envoy Catherine Ashton. International negotiators want Tehran to take specific steps to prevent it from ever being able to make nuclear weapons. In return, they promise to lift some of the sanctions imposed in recent years.
