50 years ago, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) established the Codex Alimentarius Commission to protect the health of consumers and ensure fair practices in the food trade. Farmers Shravani Devi Pachar and her husband Om Prakash have probably never have heard of Codex, but they are leading healthier and happier lives because they decided to follow Indian organic standards derived from Codex organics guidelines.
